DeleteA great lecture this evening from Michael Mann, covering all the ground that one would expect but with the personal insight of someone in the front line. The tone of the questioning was completely different to the John Cook evening in which all but one of the questions was contrarian. This time, the roving microphone didn't manage to find a single one of that stripe.

ReplyDeleteIt is a nice metaphor, unfortunately we've just left Salina, UT and the next exit ain't until Green River. (That's 107 miles w/no exits to speak of, interesting country, but I wouldn't want to break down)
ReplyDeleteIt's a cracking bit of country! I did some fieldwork out there last year, looking at natural CO2 seeps. Stayed in Green River and loved every minute of it.

DeleteJames Delingpole was indeed there. He failed to ask anything. At the end he was hanging around in the foyer chatting, perhaps waiting for a chance to confront Michael, who was busy signing books. Excellent lecture with some amusing asides to add to the serious science.
