  1. The deniers should organise their own marches. Mind you, its a lot harder to fake a large crowd out there in the streets:

"What looked like a substantial group of objective skeptics to the outside observer was actually just a few bitter and biased posters with more opinions then evidence."

    1. The deniers should organise their own marches.

They won't, because after the Alan Jones 'Convoy of No Confidence' fiasco they'd be only too aware of how dismal the result would be. They'd struggle to get more than a couple of thousand people nationally, I'd predict.

IMHO the 97/3 ratio pertains across this debate - for every 100 people prepared to get off their arses and do something about the issue, only 3 are deniers. That's also the reason why denier trolling is so characterised by sock-puppetry...

    2. I suspect the deniers prefer to lurk in the shadows. They only appears to show in public when there is a quid to be made from it :-)

  2. I love reddit's climate forum. I must point out Millicent a lot of the NYC marchers were paid to attend. Here's the proof and the comments below Watt's red meat wave are hilariously revealing of their authors.

Sou you may wish to replace this link with one from from the archive.

    1. GSR how many is "a lot"? And that is a strange use of the word "proof" that I was previously unaware of.

    2. Harry, GSR was poking fun. WUWT-ers will grasp at anything to pretend they aren't the wacky fringe outliers that they are. You should read some of the comments :)

    3. It is interesting to compare the tone of the Wutters with the more cautious reporting by 'alarmist media' of an alleged attempt by frackers to create fake support:

"Around 30 people wearing t-shirts with pro-fracking slogans showed up to a state hearing in Cullowhee, North Carolina, to support the shale gas industry last Friday. The problem is that many had no idea what fracking was."

    4. OK. I missed the tone :-)

I do read some of the WUWT comments for entertainment - people without a clue pretending they know what they are talking about.

I don't read the Climate Etc comments as I don't find them entertaining - people who should know better pretending they know what they are talking about :-(

    5. Harry,
I have to say that that is one of the best descriptions of the comments on WUWT and Climate Etc.

    6. The picture of the head of the protest turning around a corner -- and then declaring that on the basis of that photo, only a few hundred must have shown up -- is pretty excellent.

Stephen Ramsay is the only one there who seems to be able to accept that there's actually a lot of people who showed up; the rest are all in utter denial.

    7. Hey thanks ATTP! Nice of you to say.

I do honestly try with the Climate Etc comments out of a sense of politeness in that you should always listen to other's point of view. But my courage fails me after a couple of comments and I move on.
